You are not skilled enough…

When I hear those words for the first time, I just started editing anime music videos. It was my very first anime music video, featuring my favorite anime at the time, which was Air Gear, along with my favorite song from Roselle Nava. I remembered the feeling of disappointment getting that comment from a forum user. As a teenager, I went through an array of emotions before settling down. I wanted to post several, different little snarky comebacks at the comment, but I held my words.

Eventually, another forum user posted, “You just don’t know enough yet.”

Reading those words opened my eyes. The person behind the screen saw something in my first anime music video. It was not a lack of passion or creative vision. It was my lack of foundational editing knowledge: why did I cut that way, why did I put these cuts together, why did I choose to transition this moment to another. You get the picture.

That comment was encouraging that I just didn’t know enough yet. And that motivated me to learn more about video editing and why do certain cuts and sequences made more sense. How would emotions be evoked through a series of cuts, or how can the tension be highlighted.

Now, I’m shifting my focus.

I came upon the realization I not only enjoyed creating content but how to of deliver content to the audience. How messaging can be tailored to be audience-focused, or how different people interact within digital spaces.

I’m excited on getting more experience with marketing coordinator roles in the future. So I’m journeying through WordPress to test its features and capabilities.

I’m willing to see how far I can become an expert, so you’ll hear more from me!
